Who owns the copyright to your material?
Lighthouse Communication, LLC owns the copyrights to all of the material on our website, including classes, videos, downloads, and templates. You may not sell any of our content. You are, however, encouraged to modify it based on your organization’s policies and needs
What is different about your classes?
Classes by Lighthouse Communication, LLC are short, sweet, and to the point. We break down complex topics into bite-sized pieces that can be digested in between calls. We use a conversational tone with a real-talk attitude. Class material is specifically designed for emergency service officers and uses examples relevant to them.
If there is so much to learn, why aren’t the classes longer?
On top of having years of public relations experience with emergency service organizations (EMOs), we have gotten the degrees, read the books, and attended the trainings. All of this information has been filtered down to what is most relevant to EMOs and broken down into easily digestible content.
How many people in my organization should understand this information and have these skills?
The short answer is as many people as you can. The bottom line is that even though the crux of public relations duties falls on one or a few people, everyone within the organization can help or hurt the cause. Training them will ensure that they are prepared to support the reputation of your organization and the relationships that it has. The long answer is that it depends on your organizational structure and the number of people who may be required to perform any or all public relations tasks. That includes talking to the media, writing a story, managing social media, and talking to the public. You should also consider how many points of failure you want to have. If only one person has the knowledge and skills to perform public relations tasks, and that person is sick or leaves the department, what will you do? The more people who know what to do and why something is being done, the better.
Will you come to a department meeting to train our members?
YES! Please fill out a form on the “Contact Us” page and include the type of training that you want, the number of people being trained, the topic that you’d like covered, and the amount of time you’d like the class to take. Someone will reach out to you within 24-48 hours with a quote. Depending on the location of your department, travel costs may be incurred. I’m also happy to host virtual training.
What do I do if I have a problem using one of the templates I purchased?
We believe in our products and want to ensure that you are able to successfully use them. Please contact us the “Contact Us” form. If there is a technological problem (how to add/change items) someone will reach out to assist you within 24-48 hours. If the problem is about understanding the document or how to implement it, you may need to schedule a consulting meeting.
Have you worked in an emergency service organization?
At Lighthouse Communation, LLC, we are fluent in public relations and conversational in emergency service. While we have not been active members of an emergency service organization, we come from emergency service families, making us the perfect people to bridge the gap between you and the communities in which you service.
